Village...What India needs is more towns and cities. Villages of India are the places where the worst of the social ills persist.<br /><br />When I said more cities and towns, I did not mean adding more migrants to the existing over crowded metros. We need more planned cities. Urbanization is not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, urban areas have a better record of delivering civic services compared to rural areas.<br /><br />The article does not mention the necessity of people moving from rural to urban areas. If you look at the incentives of the "footloose" migrants, they want to move because the rural areas cannot support their livelihood - the ones who move are mostly untrained or under trained people. So then, the best way to stop the migration is more education and more training to the work force.<br /><br />The Government should invest much more in educating the masses. But then, in India, education is all about making money.<br /><br />The complete disregard for laborers of the unorganized sector by the law makers of India is another concern. The well organized and militant Government workers are coddled by every lawmaker.
